When the personal representative has distributed assets to a distributee or someone entitled to receive assets, he or she will want to have presentable evidence for the court that proves the assets have been successfully distributed. In order to do so, the recipient needs to acknowledge the distribution by signing the Receipt of Distributive Share form. The Receipt of Distributive Share form is a State Court Administrative Office form. Proof that a distributee has received an instrument or deed of distribution of property in kind, or payment in distribution, from a personal representative is conclusive evidence that the distributee has succeeded to the interest of the estate in the distributed property, as against all persons interested in the estate, except that the personal representative may recover the property or its value if the distribution was improper.
