The Probate Court Office is in the Gull Road Justice Complex at 1536 Gull Road just east of the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home and across the street from Borgess Medical Center.

Kalamazoo County Probate Court Judges

Hon. Curtis J. Bell

  • Judge Bell received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. Judge spell has also spent time as an Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University and Managing Partner at Bell & Associates.

Hon. Alexander C. Lipsey

  • Judge Lipsey received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Kalamazoo College in 1972 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1977. Lipsey is a former private practice bankruptcy attorney and an attorney for UAW GM Legal Services Plan. He also served on the Kalamazoo City Commission from 1989 to 1995. After spending five years as a Chapter 7 trustee, he was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, where he served from 2000 to 2006. He then served as general counsel to the House prior to his appointment to the circuit court in 2007.
